Just before we left on our three week tour of America we got to spend the night in Tamarindo. I always recommend that people visit Tamarindo while in Costa Rica and they often reply that it’s “too touristy.” I get not wanting to visit a place that it “too touristy” but THIS place is too touristy for a reason, it’s awesome. And the sunsets are MAGICAL, especially if you can catch it during low tide. AND what’s even better, the waves are super friendly. So grab your board and enjoy a sunset surf session in Tamarindo and enjoy a nice happy hour cocktail right on the beach afterwards. It’s one of the few places in Costa Rica where you can.
