Because I do. This is one of my favorite photos of Antonio. It was shot during one of those rare moments that took myself and my camera into the hear of Kinshasa, Limité. We were checking out a solar installation that a colleague did in a maternity hospital. On the way back to our vehicle (which couldn’t make it to the health center because all the roads were washed out) Antonio fell into step with these children and blended so perfectly, like that’s right where he belonged, walking through a slum with a bunch of kids.
Actually, that is right where he belongs. I know that its where he feels most at home. And that is why I love him so much. And why I so willingly follow him to places like Mansfield, Texas. The things you do for love.
