One of my favorite projects during my time in DRC was our partnership with Girl Rising to show their film in villages across the country. It was also the most harrowing. Getting the equipment out to these remote locations was a logistical nightmare and then training villagers how to USE the equipment and collect data on smartphones was even harder. But we did it. We started showing the Girl Rising film to villagers in Nord Ubangi in July of 2015 and then spread to Maniema, Tshopo and Kasai. By the end of the project, a mere nine months later, we had hosted over 2,000 movie nights for over 700,000 attendees.
