This is a picture I took in Hoi An, a small coastal town in Vietnam. We just happened to arrive the same night as the full moon. The town celebrates each full moon by turning off all the lights, lighting their silk lanterns, and sending their wishes off into the world via the small river that winds its way through this magical little town. When we heard about this we headed straight to the river to check out the festival. It turns out, so did most of the Korean and Chinese tourists across Vietnam. They came in by the busloads to make a wish under the moon. So we joined them by boarding a small boat and each lit a lantern, made a wish, and set it into the river and watched it float away. The granting of my wish made its start just a couple of days later. And now nine months later my wish has finally made it into this world.
