It was an eery feeling being at the top of Christ the Redeemer and in the clouds. This mission was a complete fail. We were looking forward to getting up there, having a glass of wine and enjoying the serene views of Rio. We set out from our apartment in Santa Teresa on a sunny day in a cab so our son could ride safely in his car seat. The cabbie dropped us off and we talked him into running the meter and leaving our car seat there in the back seat. We told him to come back in two hours. Cue the fog.
We bought our tickets and in rolled the fog. We hurried to the top in time for this scene. An eery looking Jesus in a cloud.
“That’s ok,” we agreed. We can go down to the little cafe and have a glass of wine and see if it clears up. We have two hours after all.
It didn’t. And by the time we made it down to the cafe it was closing right in front of our face. We even begged and pleaded for the nice man to sell us a bottle that we could take out and enjoy at the top.
Nope.
In fact, everything closed. So we sat there waiting for our cabbie with the car seat. Hoping he would return early. Thankfully he did.
