Fiji has been at the top of my list of places to see for a very long time. So when I visited New Zealand for a photo workshop and saw how close it was, I couldn’t resist taking a dip into this beautiful country, but it wasn’t enough. I would really like to visit every country before I leave this planet, so I often try to hit up a few when traveling to far off places. But Fiji deserves its own adventure. I stayed four days on Malolo Island, laying in the sun, boating to other islands, drinking too much at bars in the middle of the sea. It wasn’t enough. This only gave me a taste of what this place has to offer. Another big life goal of mine is to buy a 50′ catamaran and spend a year or two hitting up the island nations around the world. Fiji will be one island nation I plan to spend a lengthy amount of time in.
This picture I took from my porch at Tropica Island Resort. I was there in October of 2016 and I didn’t know that it was the windy season. I have made this mistake several times. Visiting a tropical paradise in the windy season can totally ruin the vibe. The wind usually makes it too cold to really enjoy the beach. So traveler lesson learned: always check the seasons when planning a trip to a tropical paradise!
