I have learned so much about myself during this year of photos. I learned that I really don’t like most of the photos that I did in the past, at least, not the HDR photos. Don’t get me wrong, I love HDR and it was ALL I did for a good year, but I realize now, looking back on those photos, that I was learning so much so fast that every photo reflected some new trick that I learned (from a Trey Ratcliff tutorial) or some new preset (purchased from Trey Ratcliff’s preset collection). Yes, I was obsessed with Trey’s photos for quite awhile. So much so that I didn’t really understand what it was that I liked. After going through this very critical process of posting a photo a day I am learning that I love photos that reflect the true beauty that I experienced that day. So I am going back through my New Zealand photos and re-editing them.
This is a photo I took on an early morning shoot in Glenorchy. This place was magical. And I hope this photo reflects that rather than camera tricks or funky presets.
