Over the past decade New Years has become a sacred holiday for me. Less about the party and more about taking time to reflect on the changes I want to make in myself, what goals I have for the year and beyond, and making a work plan for how I can achieve these goals. It’s also become really important for me to make New Year’s day a microcosm of how I want the coming year to be spent. With that in mind, I spent my entire New Year’s day photographing Sossusvlei Desert Park, starting with a sunrise session driving through the dunes, an early morning hike to Dead Vlei and ending with a sunset session at Esrim Dume. This is a picture I took at Dead Vlei. Today was an epic day and I hope that it’s an indication of what’s in store for 2018!
