One of my favorite experiences in Nepal was meeting this elephant, Maya, at Chitwan National Park. She was such a sweet-tempered animal. She belonged to the owner of the safari lodge (yes, you can go on safari in Nepal!) I was staying at and I got to explore the surrounding forests with her for an entire morning. One can see similar animals on safari in Nepal as would be seen in Africa, just replace lions for tigers (oh my!). During my safari, I saw rhinoceros, elephants, and crocodiles. No tigers though.
