Seriously. How did I never hear about this place before in my 30+ years on earth? It took my traveling to Israel for a phony reconnective healing seminar, becoming enamored with the place, heading back there three months later, sitting in my friend’s apartment reading a lonely planet guide and thinking “Oh, might as well read the Jordan chapter” and “WTF? That Petra place sounds amazing.”

Two weeks later I was there.

This ancient city was carved from the stone as early as 9,000 BC. Its massive structures look as if they were carved yesterday. This is a photo of the first glimpse of the treasury and what lay ahead on the 1.2 km walk through the city.
