There’s not a lot to do in little village towns like Kananga. I think that’s why people work six days a week instead of five. So I found myself a new hobby to occupy my time on my one day off in the village. I went out to the villages and rounded up the malnourished kids with one of our community health workers and we took them to this free rehabilitation center. This felt so gratifying because curing malnutrition is pretty simple. You just need to feed the child. Of course it is a little more complicated to keep them fed. This involves eliminating poverty. But for these few children, like the one pictured here, I was able to help.
