This little girl was making waves in Goma, DRC. She was a young activist for women’s rights and she had just read a poem for her classroom. The look of pride in her face when she was finished was touching. Thankfully more and more girls are finding their voice because of programs like IMA’s Ushindi, and the follow-on, Tushindi, which is a really special program that helps survivors of sexual and gender-based violence access care. I mostly worked on the ASSP project which was strengthening the health system in five provinces, but I loved it when I was asked to fly across the country to Goma and cover something for Ushindi, like this event for Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
